General Information for Parents & Carers

Opening Hours

Sunny Corner Pre-School is open from 8:30am to 4:00pm, term time only.
We aim to be as flexible as possible, so if you need an earlier start or later finish, please do speak to us – we’ll do our best to help.

What Parents Need to Know

At Sunny Corner, your child’s well-being, safety and happiness are at the heart of everything we do.
  • Child Protection is our top priority, and we work hard to create a safe, caring environment where children feel confident, supported and able to be themselves.
  • We celebrate diversity and inclusion, helping children to understand that all families are unique – and that’s something to be proud of!
  • Every child is given a dedicated key person – a friendly, familiar adult who builds a strong bond with your child, supports their development and keeps you up to date with their progress.
  • We love working in partnership with parents and carers, and use an online learning journal to share special moments and milestones from your child’s time with us.
We're also here for the whole family. If you're ever looking for extra help or guidance, the Family Information Service Cornwall is a great place to start – full of advice, support and local services for families. You can visit their website here for more information.

Fees & Funding – How It Works

At Sunny Corner, we aim to keep things clear and simple when it comes to fees and payments – and we’re always here to help if you have any questions.

We’re happy to support you with applying for government funding, including the 15 and 30 hour funded places. Just have a chat with us – we’ll guide you through the process.

Our Hourly Rates:
  • 3–4 year olds: £6.40 per hour
  • 2 year olds: £7.00 per hour
  • 12 months: £7.50 per hour

Paying Fees

Invoices are sent out monthly and we kindly ask that payment is made within 7 days. If you’re ever having difficulty with payments, please come and speak Lucy or Sarah as soon as possible – we understand that things happen and we’re here to support you.

Absences & Illness
  • If your child is absent without prior notice, the full fee will still apply.
  • For planned absences such as holidays or hospital appointments, no fees will be charged – we just ask for at least two weeks' notice.
  • If your child is unwell and you let us know by 8:30am on the day, we’ll only charge half the usual fee. This helps us cover staffing already in place for the day.
